Marangu Route is one of the most popular routes to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro and is the only route that offers hut accommodation instead of camping. This makes it a comfortable and well-structured option, especially for first-time climbers.
The route follows the same path for ascent and descent, offering gradual trails through rainforest, moorland, alpine desert, and finally the icy summit zone.

Summit: Uhuru Peak – 5,895 m
Duration: 5 – 7 Days
Difficulty: Moderate
Accommodation: Mountain huts
Best Time to Climb: January–March & June–October
From arrival to summit and descent, your climb is professionally planned and fully supported, including park permits, accommodation, meals, guides, and porters.
You will stay in mountain huts (Mandara, Horombo, and Kibo Huts), each equipped with sleeping bunks and dining areas — a unique feature of the Marangu Route.
Daily hiking hours range from 4 to 7 hours, except on summit day, which is longer and more demanding. The pace is slow and steady to support acclimatization.
Expect to walk through four distinct ecological zones:
Rainforest with wildlife sightings
Moorland with panoramic views
Alpine desert with dramatic terrain
Arctic summit zone with glaciers and snow
As altitude increases, you may experience cold temperatures, reduced oxygen, and physical fatigue. Our guides monitor your health daily and manage pace carefully.
Summit day begins around midnight, climbing under the stars to Gilman’s Point and onward to Uhuru Peak, reaching the summit at sunrise.
Our guides conduct regular health checks, including oxygen level monitoring, and carry emergency equipment throughout the climb.
Expect hot, well-balanced meals prepared by our mountain cook to maintain energy and hydration.
You will be supported by a dedicated team of guides, porters, and cooks who encourage, assist, and celebrate your success.
Reaching Uhuru Peak is a powerful personal accomplishment, offering breathtaking views and memories that last a lifetime.
